Dubai-based airline Emirates has confirmed that all passengers on a flight from India that crash-landed at Dubai’s main airport Wednesday are accounted for and safe.

An Emirates flight from India with 300 people on board crash landed at Dubai’s main airport Wednesday, sending black smoke billowing into the air and halting all traffic at the Middle East’s busiest airport.

There were no fatalities and all the passengers were safely evacuated before the plane was engulfed in flames.

Dubai-based Emirates said the accident happened around 12:45 pm local time (8:45am GMT) as Flight EK521 was arriving from the southern Indian city of Thiruvananthapuram.

Passengers on board the plane described hearing a loud noise after a hard landing.

They said they were ordered to evacuate by jumping on inflatable slides.

Emirates say they do not know what caused the crash-landing and they are co-operating with emergency services.

It said there were 300 people aboard the flight – 282 passengers and 18 crew.

Kazim Abbas, who was at the airport, captured a video of the plane bursting into flames.
