Russia said it will appeal the latest ban on its athletes. The one from the International Paralympic Committee.

CCTV’s Julia Lyubova reports from Moscow.

Russia’s Paralympic Committee said the decision to ban Russian athletes from competing at this year’s Paralympic Games is a grave human rights abuse.

The president of the committee insists that most Russian Paralympic are clean from doping and he is ready to defend the team.

On Sunday the International Paralympic Committee said it is suspending Russian athletes from the 2016 Rio Paralympics with immediate effect.

The decision comes after the publication of a report by the World Anti-Doping Agency and additional information it has since received from its author, Richard McLaren.

The Rio 2016 Paralympics begin on September 7 and Russia said it has about a week to apply for its team to take part in them. In the meantime, the Russian Paralympic Committee said it hopes a blanket ban will be overruled and its clean athletes will be allowed to compete.
