Security measures increased across Thailand following deadly blast

World Today

Thailand has increased the levels of security at airports and tourist destinations after a series of bombings and arson attacks left four people killed and 35 injured.

In a nationwide TV address, the Prime Minister, General Prayuth Chan Ocha sent his condolences to the victims of the attacks.

CCTV’s Tony Cheng reports from the resort town of Hua Hin.

He also conceded that authorities still have limited knowledge to who carried out the attacks. This will do little to restore public confidence, and as well for the impression of safety of Thailand’s tourist industry. The tourist industry in the South of Thailand is keen to deflect the damage done by these attacks.

Around the resort town of Hua Hin, special security measures have been put in place to catch the perpetrators and reassure visitors Thailand is safe.

But so far the authorities seem to have little idea who was behind these well planned and coordinated attacks.

That does not bode well for the peace and stability many people appeared to vote for when they backed the military governments constitution..
