Aung San Suu Kyi heads to China for official visit

Myanmar State Counselor and Foreign Minister Aung San Suu Kyi left Yangon on Wednesday for Beijing to begin a five-day official visit to China.

She is the first Myanmar leader visiting China since the Southeast Asian nation’s new government took office on April 1.

Aung San Suu Kyi is heading to China at the invitation of Chinese Premier Li Keqiang. She will also meet President Xi Jinping.

The leaders will exchange views on furthering the bilateral relations and cooperation.

She is scheduled to visit other Chinese cities as well during her tour.
