China invests in new Israeli football star

China has high hopes for its latest football addition from Israel, Eran Zahavi.

CCTV’s Stephanie Freid reports.

The record scoring footballer kicked off his two and a half year contract with China in July – impressing fans as the Chinese Super League’s latest foreign addition.

A month later, Zahavi is back in Israel receiving an honorary title- Ambassador for Peace for his role in promoting peace through sport.

As a peace ambassador, Zahavi serves as a role model for young Chinese, Arab and Israeli children.

Zahavi scored a record 36 goals in his final season in Israel’s top league before his reported eight million dollar transfer to Guangzhou. He is the second Israeli player to get picked up by Chinese team in the past decade.
