Clinton, Trump participate in security forum

Just days before the 15th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, the two presidential candidates vying to lead the U.S. in a new age of terrorism and globalization tried to prove their credentials to be America’s next commander in chief.

CCTV America’s Jessica Stone reports.

On defeating terror group ISIL, Hillary Clinton promised to hunt down ISIL leader, Abu Bakr al Baghdadi with a large troop commitment.

Donald Trump, who said he’s got a secret plan to defeat ISIL, now said he would ask U.S. military generals for a plan, 30 days after taking office. Meanwhile, Trump’s false assertion, that he never supported the 2003 US invasion of Iraq, went unchallenged.

Clinton, once again admitted she regretted voting for the war.

“I have said that my voting to give President Bush that authority was, from my perspective, my mistake,” Clinton said.

But no such regret from Trump on his preference for Russian President, Vladimir Putin’s leadership style.

Despite heavy international sanctions for Russia’s involvement in Ukraine and accusations that Russian hackers broke into American voter databases, Trump said he would have a very good working relationship with Putin.

U.S. president Barack Obama called Trump unqualified to lead the U.S.
