Tourism is one of Egypt’s main sources of hard currency revenue. It’s been trying to recover from years of turbulence.

Nearly 5 million people working in the tourism industry have been at risk of losing their jobs.

CCTV’s Yasser Hakim looks at one example of a tourism bazaar that has been affected. Job cuts loom as foreign visitors continue to stay away.

Karnak is one of the well-known bazaars in Cairo. Located next to the Giza pyramids, its frequented by most tourists who visit the city. Heads of states, movie stars and celebrities have been to the bazaar.

Until 2011, things were looking bright. Two uprisings and a war on terrorism in the last five years have pushed tourists away.
