Two Chinese astronauts – Jing Haipeng and Chen Dong – have begun to carry out series of scientific experiments in Tiangong-2 space lab after entering the orbital module from Shenzhou-11 manned spaceship on Wednesday morning.

On their first day of a month-long spaceflight, they moved objects in right places, checked instrument settings, and examined the spaceship.

“From the data of their physiological condition, and the video, we can know that they’re in good condition. So now, all are in progress as scheduled. And the astronauts’ work is getting on well and their physical and mental condition is also very good,” said Huang Weifen, deputy chief engineer of the Manned Spaceship Astronaut System.

“At present, the Tiangong-2 is in sound operation, and the spaceship is about to berth. And the astronauts will then conduct scientific experiments as planned,” Zhang Bo’nan said, chief designer of the Manned Spaceship System.
