Donald Trump defeats Hillary Clinton in election upset

World Today

Up until the U.S. presidential election, tourists could flock to Trump Tower in Manhattan – but now concrete barriers are up.

Trump Tower is now the White House in waiting. And the world is watching the president-elect.

CCTV America’s Nathan King reports the story.

In Donald Trump’s victory speech, there was no mention of building a wall on the Mexican border or slapping trade tariffs on China. Instead, he pledged to treat nations fairly.

Trump, the candidate, made bold pledges during the campaign that Trump, the president, will be under pressure to deliver – including who he will appoint to key positions like secretary of state, defense and treasury, and how to push forward his agenda.

The election was front page news, of course. Much of the U.S. media and political analysts wrote off Trump’s chances right up until polling day – but in the end, a divided and dissatisfied American electorate handed him a clear victory.

Many decisions lie ahead but for now president elect Donald Trump and his team this is a time to relish – he is both literally and figuratively be on top of the world.
