Bartering for a better life in Bogota

Americas Now

A woman in Colombia is helping families in need of assistance though bartering. People with little money can exchange goods and services for other goods and services at her “barter banks.”

Jacqueline Moreno is this week’s Game Changer on “Americas Now.”

Before there was money there was the Barter System. The exchange of goods and services between people has been used around the world for thousands of years. Moreno is implementing this tradition to make dreams come true in some of Bogotá’s most neglected communities.

Jacqueline has been recognized in Colombia for her work. She was named “Leading Woman for 2013” by an organization that recognizes inspirational women. She has also been invited to more than a dozen countries to present her barter banks with pop ups in Spain and Germany.
