Cubans react to the death of a Revolutionary

Fidel Castro

Fidel Castro governed Cuba for almost five decades. He was the country’s Prime Minister and President between 1959 and 2006 and officially resigned from his duties in 2008.
His reign lasted longer than any of Latin America’s other military leaders.

For many Cubans, Fidel Castro was the only president they knew – an ever-present authority figure who was in power since their birth.

“Americas Now” sent producer and cinematographer Armando Guerra to Cuba to talk to some of those Cubans and get their reaction to the Revolutionary’s death.

Take a look at Armando’s video essay to get an idea of what Cubans expect in the future as they say good-bye to the person who changed the destiny of the island 57 years ago.
