Access to medical care in rural El Salvador has always been a challenge. Roads in one of Central America’s poorest nations don’t reach everyone. Isolation has contributed to increased poverty and mortality rates among people with preventable diseases. But back in 1972 Vicky Guzman set out to change that.

Today, her organization is making dramatic improvements in the lives of thousands in the countryside.
