A growing number of Chinese businesses are using mobile and social media apps to allow customers to pay, review and recommend goods and services. Users can also book hospital appointments, apply for visas, book flights and work seamlessly while out of the office.

CGTN’s Nathan King spent a day using only the app WeChat Pay in the southern city of Guangzhou where the service operator is based.


China’s leading mobile payment system now accepted in Europe

Tech giant Alibaba has signed an agreement with French payments processing group Ingenico that allows Chinese consumers to use Alipay, a popular mobile payment service in China, while shopping in Europe. Some merchants in Germany have already begun to accept Alipay.


Social media personalities add to boom in China’s online economy

China has a growing number of celebrities known as “Wang Hong” a term reserved specifically for those who become famous through the internet. They attract millions of fans by creating original content on social media, and often become key opinion leaders.
