Startup helps people decorate homes online

Imagine redecorating your home with the help of someone you never actually meet in person. That’s the reality now, a virtual reality.

One startup that’s been highly successful with this new concept is Colorado design firm “Havenly.” Since it launched in 2014, the company has seen revenues increase 900 percent year-over-year.

CGTN’s Hendrik Sybrandy reports.

Brooke Wolf recently redecorated several rooms in her home. New furniture, new lights, new stuff on the walls. It used to be, you’d hire an interior designer for a project this ambitious. Brooke chose another route.

She turned to Havenly, a Denver, Colorado-based interior design firm that will help you decorate your house online.

You go to Havenly’s website, pick one of their professional designers, tell that person about the room or rooms you want to renovate and generally what you’re looking for. Then the designer, in consultation with you, comes up with a plan.

Lee Mayer’s personal need grew into a company that’s now two and a half years old and has helped hundreds of thousands of customers, she said, mostly younger folks who don’t have a lot of time or money to spend on where they live.

Mayer charges $199 for a full room design package. She works with 250 vendors. Because Havenly helps you buy your home furnishings online too.
