Fatal Taiwan tour bus accident leaves dozens dead

At least 32 people have died in Taiwan’s worst road crash in 30 years.

Authorities said 12 people were taken to a hospital with serious injuries. It’s the second bus crash in Taiwan in less than two weeks.

CGTN’s Owen Fairclough reports.

The busload of several dozen mostly elderly tourists had been returning home from visiting cherry blossoms on a farm in the central Taichung region.

Local media reports said the vehicle veered off the roadway as it headed toward a curve with one official saying the bus flipped due to excess speed. The roof was torn off, and some people were thrown out.

That incident prompted authorities to call for greater security for tourists.
