Rio Olympic venues look drastically different just six months later

The iconic Maracana Stadium was looted. A $20 million golf course sits empty much of the time. And other venues are not only closed, but are actually “off-limits” to anyone who tries to enter. 

This is what has become of Brazil’s Olympic venues, just six months after the 2016 Games concluded in Rio de Janeiro. These Getty photographs show the state of Olympic venues now.
