Not my president

Thousands of Americans marked the President’s Day holiday by protesting against their current commander-in-chief.

Many “Not My President” rallies took shape in major U.S. cities.

CGTN’s John Terrett reports from one in New York City.

Protesters gathered in Columbus Circle in midtown Manhattan, right on the edge of Central Park, where the Trump Intercontinental Hotel is located.

President’s Day turned out to have the perfect weather for protesters to go out and make their voices heard.

Some said they came out because they believe president Trump is a racist and sexist. Some feel the president doesn’t have a grasp of true, American values.

Monday’s protest follows a weekend that saw President Trump addressing a crowd of supporters in Florida and a large pro-Muslim rally in Times Square, New York called “Today I’m a Muslim too.”

The U.S. holiday honors the country’s first president, George Washington, and frequently all the others who have held the office.
