U.S. President Donald Trump pledged Friday to fulfill all of his campaign promises and even go a step further.

CGTN’s Jessica Stone reports from the Conservative Political Action Conference.

During four previous speeches starting in 2011 at this annual event, Trump laid the groundwork for his America First agenda.

Now, he returns as the first U.S. president since 1981, when Ronald Reagan made an appearance, to speak during his first year in office. Having won over critics within his own party – Trump delivered a message of economic nationalism.

Trump said he’s already made good on many campaign pledges – ending multilateral trade deals, reducing regulations, attracting new manufacturing jobs, and he defended his controversial immigration crackdown.

Trump has pointed to global terror attacks as justification for a massive military buildup. Friday, he fiercely defended putting U.S. citizens-first.

Trump’s political message mirrors the populism of Britain’s Brexit leader Nigel Farage, who said the new direction for the U.S. government is just the beginning of a global movement.

While the U.S. Republican party is now celebrating the victory of an America First agenda Democrats are vowing to keep up the fight.

In a video message delivered Friday on line to supporters, former U.S. presidential candidate Hillary Clinton said “Let resistance plus persistence equal progress.”
