The Republic of Korea anxiously awaits a Supreme Court ruling on the impeachment of President Park Geun-hye.

Hundreds of thousands took to the streets mostly in favor of her impeachment.

Construction workers marched along with many other people against President Park Geun-hye. They gathered in Seoul’s city center until their numbers reached the hundreds of thousands. This coincides with the fourth anniversary of the president’s inauguration.

This large demonstration came just two days before the nation’s constitutional court holds a final hearing on whether President Park should be officially impeached.

Demonstrators here have a deadline in mind for her complete removal from office.

“We the people are gathering to press for an impeachment by early March,” said one of the anti-Park protesters.

Park is accused of allowing a close friend to use her presidential connection to coerce tens of millions of dollars out of giant conglomerates. That includes Samsung, whose acting head is already in police detention in connection with the scandal.

Park’s popularity is around four percent, but some did turn up to support her. They were dwarfed by the larger anti-Park gathering that drew to a close with a candlelight vigil.
