New venture hopes to revive San Francisco’s Chinatown food culture

San Francisco’s Chinatown is the oldest and largest Chinatown in the United States, but with Chinese restaurants and shops now easy to find in most suburbs, the area has fallen on hard times.

A new venture called China Live is looking to breathe new life into the community.

Mark Niu reports

China Live is a 2800 square meter, $20 million food emporium.

It has an open kitchen with eight different stations, such as ones for dumplings and roasted meats.

Much of the decor has been special sourced directly from China including equipment you’d be hard pressed to find elsewhere.

It even comes with a special market, where you can find premium teas and specialty products like extra virgin tea oil and starfruit vinegar from Taiwan.
