The Heat

British Prime Minister Theresa May addresses Parliament after sending the letter to trigger Britain’s exit from the European Union.

In one of the most significant actions taken by a British leader since World War Two, Prime Minister Theresa May notified the European Union Wednesday of Britain’s intention to leave the bloc.

The outcome of the negotiations will shape the future of Britain’s economy, from trade deals, to immigration and border security.

CGTN’s Richard Bestic reports from London.

To discuss the U.K.’s exit from the European Union:

  • John Petley, operations manager with Campaign for an Independent Britain
  • Sean O’Grady, deputy managing editor of the London newspaper, The Independent
  • Tom Clougherty, editorial director of the Center for Monetary and Financial Alternatives at the Cato Institute
  • Gordon Guthrie , a former parliamentary candidate in the Scottish National Party and the author of “Winning the Second Independence Referendum – a manifesto for Scotland and EU after Brexit”
