The Heat: US strikes in Syria cause international tension

The U.S. airstrikes against a military base in Syria mark the first show of force by American forces against the Syrian government since its civil war began.

Foreign leaders met in Italy to discuss the situation in Syria. The G7 meeting focused heavily on encouraging Russian leadership to move away from its support for Syria’s president Bashar al-Assad. Now, U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson travels to Moscow amidst turmoil in the relationship over the escalation of U.S. action in Syria.
