The DPRK will mark the 105th anniversary of the birth of the country’s founder Kim Il-sung on Saturday, known as the “Day of the Sun.”

But, China is calling on each side to stop the threats and provocations.

CGTN’s Guan Yang reports.

The past records show that the DPRK often marks significant dates with shows of military force.

This year, with the U.S.S. Carl Vinson Strike Group sailed near to the Korean Peninsula, and the DPRK recently warned of a nuclear attack on the U.S. at any sign of aggression, people in the China-DPRK border city of Dandong have expressed their concerns over the growing tensions.

“I’m worried if a war broke out as Dandong is so close to the DPRK”, said Xu Airui, local resident.

“The war seems to be far away from my everyday life, I don’t think it can happen”, said Yue Yan, local resident.

“Of course I am concerned, but I don’t believe those rumors on the Internet about the Chinese troops and medical personnel gathering at the China-DPRK border areas”, said Gao Cheng, local resident.
