Mexican university opens special library for students studying Chinese

College students in Mexico who want to learn Chinese have a new place to go. A university library has become a resource for students curious about Chinese language and history.

It’s part of a Chinese government effort to work with global universities.

CGTN’s Franc Contreras reports from Mexico City.

Mexico City’s Anahuac University is the only university in all of North America to have its own Chinese library.

Li Yueyin, a university Mandarin language professor, worked with the Information Office of China’s State Council, and dedicated three years to coordinating and assembling the 6,000 books in its holdings.

China has also created libraries in Japan as well as various parts of Africa and Turkey, to name just of few of the locations. It’s part of a global effort to give more students a window into China’s main language and culture.
