The Washington Post broke the story late Monday, citing unnamed sources, claiming President Donald Trump revealed highly classified intelligence on a new terror threat from ISIL during his meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov last week. The White House has denied the story.
In a Tuesday morning tweet Trump said “As President I wanted to share with Russia (at an openly scheduled W.H. meeting) which I have the absolute right to do, facts pertaining to terrorism and airline flight safety. Humanitarian reasons, plus I want Russia to greatly step up their fight against ISIS & terrorism.”
