Demonstrators hold competing Trump rallies focused on Russia, climate

Competing rallies, connected by the same focus: U.S. President Donald Trump.  Crowds gathered in several American cities in the name of Trump.  But that’s where the similarities end.

While some came to praise, others came to protest the President.

CGTN’s Jim Spellman attended rival rallies held in Washington, D.C.

Organizers dubbed it the “March for Truth”  protesting alleged Russian interference in the 2016 U.S. Presidential Election.

The nationwide protests come as multiple investigations are looking into possible links between Russia and the Trump campaign and transition teams. The ongoing investigations have yet to reveal wrongdoing.

Trump’s decision to pull out of the Paris climate agreement brought more urgency to the protests.

A group of pro-Trump supporters gathered at the White House for the ‘Pittsburgh Not Paris’ rally. The crowd gathered to celebrate the President’s decision to withdraw the U.S. from the Paris Climate Agreement.

They argue that exiting the Paris Agreement won’t hurt the stature of the United States on the world stage.
