Urban Voices: Gustavo Santaolalla redefines Latin sounds

Americas Now

He is one of the most successful Latin American composers of modern times, and has become a household name outside his home country.

Born just outside Buenos Aires, Argentina, he was the leader of two successful bands in the 1960s and 70s before he relocated to Los Angeles, California.

In the 1980s, he returned to his home country to create a new sound, by incorporating influences from the U.S. into his music.

And today, after having won Grammys and Academy Awards, he’s also one of the most sought-after composers in Hollywood.

Joel Richards introduces us to Urban Voice, Gustavo Santaolalla.
