Rio de Janeiro faces troubles one year after 2016 Olympic Games

The cost of hosting Olympic Games is almost always higher than initial projections. But for Rio de Janeiro, the price the city is paying extends beyond finances.

Since the 2016 Summer Games, the city has experienced worsening violence, mass evictions and failed promises for better public transportation for everyone.

Much of Rio’s debacle is due to the political and social instability that existed even before the Games began. Brazil is mired in its worst financial crisis since the 1930s and its government is engulfed in corruption allegations, so correspondent Gerry Hadden traveled to Rio to survey the scene, and see who is to blame.
