Pulitzer-prize winning poet Galway Kinnell once wrote: “Let our scars fall in love.” The line from one of his most famous poems could define both poetry and the work of poets.

By revealing themselves and painting a picture of their lives and perceptions,  poets stir emotions ranging from empathy to rage.

Recently, a poet from Uruguay visited Washington, D.C., to do just that.
