2017 BRICS Summit

The 2017 BRICS Summit kicked off on Sunday, Sept 3 in Xiamen, China. Leaders from the five BRICS nations – Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa are all in attendence. The countries represent about 43 percent of the world’s population and make up a significant part of the global economy. China’s President Xi Jinping, who chaired the ninth BRICS summit, has called for even greater cooperation and partnership among the members.

  • Paulo Sotero, the director of the Brazil Institute at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in Washington DC.
  • Victor Gao, a Chinese international relations expert.
  • Anton Fedyashin, a professor of history at American University. He specializes in Eurasian and international relations.
