Brazil grapples with increasing violence against transgender community

Since 2008, more than 2,000 murders of transgender people have been reported in 65 countries.

Of the world’s ten deadliest countries for transgender communities, six are in Latin America and Brazil, the one with the most murders.

A brutal killing of a transsexual woman in the northeastern city of Fortaleza, which was caught on tape and shared on social media, has shed light on the country’s enormous problem with hate crimes.
