Maine is the least diverse state in the United States with 96.9 percent of the population being white, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. In the last 16 years, however, some 7,500 immigrants, from dozens of African nations, have revived a once-fading mill town in this part of New England. 

Many in the small community of Lewiston, Maine, believe their city has become an example of how people from very different walks of life can come together to plant the seeds of peace. The Lewiston High School football (soccer) team is a testament to that sentiment.
