Auto Revolution

Volvo became the first mainstream automaker to announce plans to switch to hybrids, or all electric vehicles, starting in 2019.

The stunning announcement could mark the beginning of the end for the internal combustion engine.

Germany said it will no longer sell the engine in the European Union by year 2030. Norway said it will phase out gas and diesel cars five years earlier. And Britain and France plan to do the same by 2040.

It’s all part of an auto revolution that includes self-driving vehicles, and increased use of artificial intelligence, biometrics and connectivity.
