The Heat: How the world views China

The Heat

In just four decades, China has gone through a transformation and is now one of the world’s most important players.

Its impact and influence is felt across the globe like never before.  As the world’s second-largest economy, it has committed hundreds of billions of dollars in trade and investment with nations from Asia to the Americas.  Its ambitious Belt and Road Initiative now stretches into the Middle East, Russia and Europe.  China’s massive infrastructure and investment projects in Africa are helping the continent forge ahead.

On the international stage, Chinese President Xi Jinping promotes globalization and free trade from the World Economic Forum in Davos to the BRICS Summit in Xiamen. Latin America is also enjoying a growing relationship with China and some countries in the region already list it as a top trading partner. And China’s impact is even taking on an expanding role in Hollywood. Heavy Chinese investment in the film industry there has resulted in co-productions like “The Great Wall.”
