Chinese President Xi Jinping offered his thoughts on what the Asia-Pacific region should do when faced with profound changes in the global economy. The Chinese leader said a shared future through open and inclusive developments is the best path forward.
“We must advance the trend of times, live up to our responsibility, and work together to deliver a bright future of development and prosperity for the Asia-Pacific,” Xi said.
The president also embraced the significant contributions of globalization to the world economy, which he called an “irreversible historical trend.” Xi added that openness brings progress while seclusion leaves one behind.
Xi also expressed China’s commitment to creating common development through the “Belt and Road Initiative,” which promoters see as a way to enhance connectivity.
Moreover, President Xi’s pledge to continue pursuing China’s innovation-driven development offered delegates a new vision for the country’s path going forward.
