The Heat: Trump-backed candidate defeated for US Senate

The Heat

Doug Jones Victory

Alabama’s Republican candidate for the U.S. Senate, Roy Moore, was dogged by allegations of sexual misconduct dating back 40 years.

Despite that, and against the advice of some of his fellow Republicans, President Trump went all in – endorsing Mr. Moore against the Democrat — Doug Jones. In the end, backed by an historic turnout, Alabama dealt both the President and Moore a stunning defeat.
