U.S. President Donald Trump’s first tweet of the new year was a frontal attack on Pakistan.
Now, the U.S. administration is accusing Islamabad of harboring terrorists and is suspending all security aid.
For its part, Pakistan says the money is not aid but payment for the country’s participation in the fight against terrorism in neighboring Afghanistan.
CGTN’s Danial Khan reports from Islamabad.
To discuss all of this:
- Ali Imran, a Pakistani journalist and current affairs analyst
- Ahmad Majidyar, a fellow at the Middle East Institute
- Saeed Khan, a lecturer in the Department of Near East and Asian Studies at Wayne State University
- Richard Weitz, the director of the Center for Political-Military Analysis

The United States has foolishly given Pakistan more than 33 billion dollars in aid over the last 15 years, and they have given us nothing but lies & deceit, thinking of our leaders as fools. They give safe haven to the terrorists we hunt in Afghanistan, with little help. No more!
