The sale of illegal guns is big business in Mexico. And they’re being sold by a mysterious source in the United States.

The gun laws in Mexico are among the toughest in the world. And there’s only one gun store in the entire country which is run by the military. But each year 250,000 firearms are being sold on the black market.

Correspondent Mike Kirsch reports from Mexico City that the guns are being smuggled into the hands of criminal organizations by an unknown third-party from the United States.

Check out Mike’s story which includes an insightful interview with MIT-educated scholar Dr. Topher McDougal who conducted a study on the illegal flow of guns to Mexico. It’s called “The Way Of The Gun.”

Mexico’s only gun store, the Directorate of Arms and Munitions also manages the legal import of firearms from other countries. In addition to selling guns made in Mexico, it offers brands from the U.S., Austria and Italy.
