A sanctuary for traumatized chimps in Brazil

In a landmark case last year, an Argentine judge ordered the release of a chimpanzee from her cage at the Mendoza zoo.

It’s the first time a court of law has ever recognized the rights of apes.

The chimp, Cecilia, had sunken into a depression after losing her two companions and animal rights activists intervened to help free her from her life in confinement.
