Parents of shooting victims have lobbied politicians for years for stricter gun legislation. Now one such parent, Tom Sullivan, whose son son Alex was killed in the Aurora, Colorado movie theater shooting in 2012, is running for political office. CGTN’s Hendrik Sybrandy sat down with Sullivan this week. He says his platform is finding new resonance following the school shooting last month in Parkland, Florida, which has led many students around the country to speak out and become politically active.
