Transplanted Puerto Ricans being adopted by families in Florida

More than 400,000 Puerto Ricans have moved to Florida since Hurricane Maria. Assistance programs can’t help them all. So some Florida families are actually adopting them.

Thousands of families lost everything after category 4 Hurricane Maria ravaged the US island territory of Puerto Rico. Many of them made the tough decision of leaving everything behind to move on with their lives including two families that relocated to the state of Florida.

One of them almost lost a child in the process. The other became a source of inspiration for the diaspora.

Correspondent Nitza Soledad Perez introduces us to the adopted families of Puerto Rico.
