UN diplomats had harsh words for each other at a Security Council meeting on Thursday. Russia had requested an open meeting, over the poisoning of ex-spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter on British soil.

Russian Ambassador to the UN Vassily Nebenzia told the assembled diplomats that his colleagues had informed the UK that they are “playing with fire” and “will be sorry.” UK Ambassador Karen Pierce responded by saying that Moscow was acting like an “arsonist [who] wishes to investigate his own fire.”
