Escalating US-China trade tensions send jitters through Malaysia

Malaysian stock prices tumbled when the U.S. announced tariffs on aluminium and steel imports last month.

And in reaction to U.S. tariffs targeting China, the technology index on the stock exchange dropped 7 percent on Wednesday alone and is down by a quarter so far this year.

Worst hit have been companies tied to the semi-conductor industry, worth some 35 billion dollars a year to Malaysia.
