Dance Salad Festival features dancers from all over the world

It’s called the “Dance Salad Festival” and for the last 23 years it’s brought some of the most well-known ballet companies and performers from around the world to Houston.

It started out as an idea in the mind of a Texas choreographer living in the heart of Europe over 25 years ago.

CGTN’s Mike Miller shows you some of the performances.

The original festival was held just three times but then, it moved from Belgium all the way to… Texas.

And a show it became, attracting dance companies from around the world.

Since its inception, nearly 30 countries have participated.

This year’s festival was primarily a mix of European nations including Sweden, Switzerland, Germany, and Italy.

In previous years, many Asian countries have participated with China having performed nine times, more than any other nation.

It was a wonderful education getting to know Asian, beautiful dancers. And they have been added to the mix of our salad.

A quarter of a century in, the festival has a bright future having become a favorite among dancers everywhere.
