Both Emmanuel Macron and Donald Trump readily acknowledge they have a “special relationship.”

Macron said whatever bond they share is based, in part, on both leaders not being classic politicians while scoring unlikely election victories.

And so as the two presidents sat down for talks at the White House, the agenda was packed with some pressing global issues.
