US-China Tariff tensions give French pork industry a boost

Global Business

French pig feet are being packed up for a month-long voyage around the world, from a small factory in Brittany to Shanghai. The pork is coming from a cooperative that is the first French firm licensed to export pork meat to China.

CGTN’s Elena Casas reports in northern France.

The Chinese are the world’s biggest consumers of pork, eating $130 billion worth a year and the import market is dominated by U.S. firms.

But the French said European health standards give their products an advantage, and U.S.-China tariff tensions could give their exports a boost.
