A visionary whose company helps change Haitian lives every step of the way

Americas Now

A former aerial performer for Cirque USA traded her high-flying life in Orlando, Florida for Port au Prince, Haiti.

Julie Colombino runs an ethical fashion business training Haitians to make footwear from tires. She is this week’s Game Changer on “Americas Now.”

In 2010, Haiti was devastated by a catastrophic earthquake. With only $7,000 and no plan, Julie wanted to find a way to help.

Eight years later, she is an entrepreneur providing job training to Haitian residents at her ethical footwear company. You could say she is fighting poverty – one step a time.

And Julie’s ambition for change does not stop with the Caribbean nation. After Haiti, she wants to grow her enterprise and create jobs in other vulnerable places around the world.
