The Heat: US trade actions and US-DPRK summit

The Heat

The Trump administration plans to go ahead with tariffs on Chinese goods in the next month.

The announcement from the White House said the United States would levy 25 percent tariffs on $50 billion worth of Chinese products – a list of which would be finalized by the middle of June.

China’s Ministry of Commerce said the U.S. move was a surprise and contrary to the consensus reached between the countries. In a statement the Ministry said, “No matter what measures the U.S. will take, China is confident and capable of defending our national interests.”
