World Cup fever in Peru unites the country

Peru’s national team hasn’t played in the World Cup since 1982. Now that the moment is here, football fans have become super fans. And they’re going over-the-top in showcasing their excitement.

The euphoria of loyal fans has led to retail madness as sales of football jerseys and wide-screen TV’s have hit record levels. The big game also has some Peruvians – who have never even left the country – spending thousands of dollars to travel to Russia to see the 2018 World Cup.
