U.S. President Donald Trump is again focused on migrants as his top priority. In a series of social media messages, he claims they are invading the U.S., and should be immediately removed.

President Donald Trump again lashed out at U.S. immigration policy Sunday, saying that those who enter the country illegally must be immediately turned around and deported.

In a tweet, he wrote: “We cannot allow all of these people to invade our Country.”

We cannot allow all of these people to invade our Country. When somebody comes in, we must immediately, with no Judges or Court Cases, bring them back from where they came. Our system is a mockery to good immigration policy and Law and Order. Most children come without parents…

It was a return to the incendiary language seen in recent days, like Trump describing immigrants as infesting the country. He wrote that “Immigration must be based on merit.”

Immigration is shaping up to be one of the main political issues as the country prepares for mid-term elections this fall. Democrats are hopeful that they can take control of both houses of Congress – and then pull back the reins on Trump.

Democrats are demanding that the government step up efforts to reunite child migrants with their families now that the administration has stopped the practice of forced separations. The top Democrat in the Senate, Charles Schumer, said the government should appoint a czar to oversee the situation as more than 2,000 children remain isolated from their parents, cared for in federal facilities.

Democrats were united in blasting the president’s handling of the situation on the southern U.S. border. “We want to make sure these families are reunited after the president created this false crisis and we want to get these families back together again,” said Democratic Congressman Elijah Cummings on Face the Nation.

Meanwhile, Republicans are aiming to push an immigration reform bill through the Congress this week, although there is much doubt about whether they have the votes to get it passed.
